K-Arts Korean Film and Acting Department Admission, Korean Language Learning
Hello, I am Renee Kim, living in Korea.
2025 K-Arts Film and Arts University Student: HANNA JOY
I am currently helping students who wish to study at Korean film and acting schools. Some of them also wish to learn Korean.
I will be testing students who want to apply to Korean film schools through both online and offline methods. I graduated from the Korean National University of Arts (K-Arts) with a degree in the Art Department, and I completed my degree at the K-Arts Film School. I am currently managing an international art academy, a film school in Australia, and a cinema operation.
I want to share my experience of vacationing in Korea and my time at K-Arts with you. Through this article, I would like to share my thoughts and preferences about life at school and Korean culture!

The Korean National University of Arts (K-Arts), established in 1993 under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, is a four-year university located in the Seocho and Jongno districts of Seoul. The university is composed of six departments: Music, Theater, Film, Dance, Fine Arts, and Traditional Arts. K-Arts is one of the top art institutions in Korea, training many talented individuals who will shape the future of art. Its curriculum emphasizes flexible technical skills and strong learning to cultivate experts in various artistic fields, enhancing students' artistic abilities.
Our ACADEMY offers international programs for students from around the world. Classes often include shared discussions and concept presentations, and students can watch performances or see events organized and executed by peers, which is a unique aspect of our ACADEMY culture. Hanna Joy, one of our students, was able to experience different cultures through the international program, which helped her understand and communicate across cultures and shape her perspective.
First Impressions and Expectations from My Academy:
This program offers students the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures and art, significantly expanding their artistic scope. K-Arts, which boasts an international reputation, offers numerous life-changing experiences every year through independent exchanges with foreign universities. Students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of Korean culture and the arts. Hanna, who prepared for K-Arts in just 6 months, shared that she was excited about joining K-Arts, knowing it represented the heart of Korean art. Her expectations were met, and she was particularly impressed by the passion and contributions of fellow students. Our classes often involve free discussions and concept presentations, which allow students to plan and execute performances or exhibitions — this is part of our academy's unique culture.
Her major isn't just about skills, but knowledge too. We are pleased that the school provides an education that satisfies both aspects, which has helped her thrive.
Preparing for Admission to K-Arts Film School: International Student Environment
After deciding to apply to K-Arts Film School, Hanna first completed the application preparations, which had to be written in both English and Korean. She used the online services provided by the school to write her application report. She then focused on practical exams and interviews, specifically working on art telling and art boarding. She practiced daily to maximize her abilities. Hanna thought deeply about why she wanted to apply to K-Arts Film School and expressed her thoughts openly during the interview. She highlighted what she hoped to achieve at K-Arts Film School. Furthermore, during the interview, she applied Humanitas Academy’s unique 12-step creative thinking approach. While the process was challenging, she never gave up on her dream and is now happily working toward being accepted into K-Arts Film School.

Life at K-Arts: Daily Life and Environment
Living at K-Arts provides an enriching experience. Classes balance theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with faculty members helping students unlock their full potential. Experts in various fields are available to guide students. Another great advantage is the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of cultural events and performances. Exhibitions, concerts, performances, and dance shows are organized, and students are encouraged to participate. I’ve also had the chance to perform at major venues in Seoul, such as the National Theater and Myeongdong Theater, where I gained new perspectives on diverse music genres from traditional to modern.
Experiencing Korean traditional culture and food is another joy of studying at K-Arts. I had the chance to participate in Korean dance, pansori (traditional Korean singing), and traditional food preparation, deepening my understanding of Korean history and culture. These experiences helped me integrate more Korean elements into my own work.
Challenges and Achievements in Film and Art Studies: Education Programs and Activities
Studying film and art at K-Arts can be demanding, but it is incredibly rewarding. The educational programs are designed to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in their major and related fields, maximizing their potential and strengthening their understanding of the arts. One-on-one lessons, group exercises, and masterclasses in various formats help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and improve on specific areas. Collaborating with external experts is also possible, providing valuable technical insights.
In addition to these programs, students can participate in club activities, exhibitions, performances, and international exchange programs. These activities help students improve their artistic skills, build social networks, and work toward their dreams of becoming global artists.
People at K-Arts: Relationships with Professors and Fellow Students
One of the most valuable aspects of studying at K-Arts is the relationships formed with professors and fellow students. The faculty is passionate about enhancing students' artistic abilities and respects each individual's personality and potential. They kindly respond to questions and concerns, offering advice and encouragement while sharing knowledge about art trends and innovations to help students develop a broader artistic vision.
Fellow students also provide significant support, sharing their work, feedback, personal experiences, and assignments, contributing to mutual growth. K-Arts fosters a culture of equal communication and respect, regardless of nationality, gender, or age, making these relationships a great asset to my artistic and personal growth.
